When it comes to making homemade food to give as holiday gifts, I think everyone will agree that candy is on top of the list. All three of these recipes are simple to prepare and takes less than 15 minutes to make (not including set-up).
You can then wrap the cellophane bags of candy and food safe metal cookie / candy tin or plastic containers, holiday decorations.
You can safely use this recipe for 1 week before you plan to use as agift.
Holiday Marble Bark
6 squares semi-sweet baking chocolate
6 squares premium white chocolate
1 cup crushed peppermint candy
The use of two separate bowls, melt the semisweet and white chocolate in separate bowls. You must use the setting of high-energy, chocolate, stirring every 30 seconds until they merge. I find that with a non-stick silicone spatula works best for this task.
Mix 1 / 2 cupmints in each container. Alternately spoon melted chocolate on wax paper lined cookie sheet. swirl of chocolate with a spatula to a marbled effect. Mini 1 1 / 2 hours or until firm. Break into bite-sized pieces.
Double Peanut Clusters
Pieces 2 cups peanut butter
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups salted peanuts
Melt peanut butter snack and shortening in top of the latest hot water bath,boiling water. Gently stir in the peanuts until they are well covered by the mixture. Line a baking pan with waxed paper or parchment. Mixture Drop by teaspoonfuls on waxed paper. Cool work.
Pecan Pralines
1 pound bag of brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup whole pecan half
Using a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar and cream. Simmer thismix down to 10 minutes, stirring with a non-stick silicone spatula. Remove from heat and add vanilla and butter pecan half. Whisk the mixture by hand for 3 minutes. Line a baking pan with wax or parchment paper and drop tablespoons of the mixture on the sheet compiled. Cool work.
