Old Fashion Recipes for cooking on cold winter days

Now that winter and the days are long, cold, often rainy or snowy, it's time to heat the home with some delicious baked goods. Here is a good selection of recipes from my vintage collection would be perfect to do with the kids or just yourself for later sections. HOMEMADE muesli bar

3 1 / 2 cups oats
1 cup walnuts,chopped
1 cup raisins
2 / 3 cup melted butter
1 / 3 cup honey
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 / 2 teaspoon vanilla
1 / 2 teaspoon salt
1 / 2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 can cherry pie filling

Spread oats in a pan, Jelly Roll roast in oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. In a large bowl, mix oats, nuts and raisins. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add honey, eggs, vanilla, salt, brown sugar and filling. Stir in a mixture of oats. Press firmly into greased Jelly Rollpan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool, cut into squares.

QUICK AND EASY MINT COOKIES

This recipe was passed off to a Christmas Open House at a local flower shop in Southern Indiana years ago. These cookies are very simple and you remember the "Girl Scout Mint Cookie.

Dissolve 1 pound semi-sweet chocolate coating. Add 6 drops of peppermint oil dressing and mix well. Dip Ritz crackers until well coated and place on a sheet lined with waxbaking tray to set. Store in an airtight container in a cool place until ready to serve love.

LACY cornmeal WAFFLE COOKIES

This is a cookie recipe from Sweden. E 'known as Havreflarn in Sweden.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

1 / 2 cup butter
1 / 4 cup all-purpose flour
1 / 2 cup sugar
3 / 4 cup quick cooking oats
2 tablespoons cream

Melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Add the flour, sugar, oats, and cream. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture beginsbubbling. Remove from heat and stir vigorously for several seconds. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls about 4 inches apart in well greased and lightly floured baking sheet. Load only 5 or 6 cookies on a baking sheet at a time. Bake at 375 degrees 5-6 minutes until golden brown. Cool in pan 2 minutes per wafer. Carefully remove from pan with a thin spatula and place rolling pin until firm. If cookies harden before it can beremoved from the pan to warm in the oven for a few seconds to soften. For about 2 1 / 2 dozen.

Applesauce RAISIN MUFFINS

1 large egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 1 / 2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 cups flour
3 / 4 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 / 2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 / 2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 / 4 cup raisins

Whisk the oil, egg and applesauce. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg and cinnamon, stirring well. Stir in the raisins.Spoon batter into greased and floured muffin tins. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until brown and feels firm. Cool on a wire rack. Delicious served with cream cheese!

Note: This is a soft, spicy muffins. Very good.
