Most people really want to recycle, but it is often difficult to find what happens. The first step in planning your recyclables to all the materials you need in one place. Here are some items you should have on hand:

String or twine

Containers, cans

Shopping bags

Cleaning supplies

Paper Shredder

Deodorizer, baking soda

Light blue or bags (if applicable)

garbage bags, boxes of organic matter (if applicable)

Your recyclingshould be in an enclosed space that is easily accessible, but out of sight. Think about where each of these activities is to select a location to store your recyclable that is useful based on where you are coming from recyclable materials (kitchen, office, living room, etc.) and where they go (basement, garage, immediately to the edge the sidewalk).
