The search for perfection Pizzelle - Adventures in biscuits

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The instructions for using my new machine electric Pizzelle were simple: just connect, drop batter, cook a few seconds, and cookies. But, as I discovered several hidden variables in these directions. How to make waffles, the first batch of cookies were so-so.

The cookie dough can be combined with an electric mixer or whisk. This is a pack very "short", which means very fat. It can be melted butter or vegetable oil to grease. The addition of sodium bicarbonate is also apersonal choice. I watched a video by mixing up the batter. There was the yeast and flour is added gradually to a thin batter.

I followed the recipe that came with the grid for the first batch of cookies. They had the yeast in them and were more often than expected. The most distinctive cookies, I added nutmeg. The second game is an adaptation of an orange cookie recipe in the newspaper. Place or orange extract, lemon extract and I added lzest. L 'The cookies were delicious and led to a search cookie.

I could cook pizzelles perfect? With experience, I realized that there are essential steps. These steps, which apply to an electric grill, make beautiful cookies.

1. Baking powder decision. Do you want cookies for ice cream sandwiches? Add the yeast. Do thin biscuits with fruit? Get out the baking soda.

2. Milk or milk? Most of the recipes I found did not contain milk. But the bigCity, website small kitchen is a recipe that contains yeast and milk. The result is extra crunchy.

3. Preheat the grill. My grid has a green light that illuminates when the cooking temperature reached.

4. Do not oil the grate. Many manufacturers tell you to oil the grill plates and spread with butter. I do not. The non-stick works well and the batter is already loaded with butter.

5. Temperature. After experimenting withdifferent settings, I chose number three. It gives me a few seconds longer to reach the grid and remove the cookies brown.

6. Measure accurately. I tried a scoop and a spoon. While both worked, I think that a small scope will work best.

7. Annex location. Mangia Bene Pasta According to the site, making the batter a bit 'behind the middle of the pattern creates round cookies. "This is because, as she things the baker, the first pinch hittersomething. "

8. Carefully remove. Using a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid scratching the grid. Carefully remove cookies and cool on waxed paper or parchment.

9. Cut with scissors. In a perfect world, every cookie a perfect circle. They are not. But you can cut the raggedy edges with scissors.

10. Hitting well. Pizzelles absorbs moisture easily, so put them in an airtight container. If cookies get wet, warm in the oven for a fewminutes.

Finally, I hope you experiment. This dough is very forgiving. Try adding chopped almonds and almond extract, or powdered chocolate or cinnamon. Let your imagination be your guide.

If you're planning to remove the smell of dog urine on carpet, I think I can help. After two dogs into a nightmare for months I've learned to get rid of their smell dog urine stains quickly and effectively by trial and error. A tip I recommend is to stay away from chemicals and toxic products that people can recommend as bleach. PaperTowels - First you want a lot of paper towels can. You're going to enjoy as much moisture as you. Maintain pressure until the application is no longer on the area and go to the next step to get there. 2 recommendations I would recommend

First, you probably want to wear gloves if they have a bit 'confused. All she can afford to throw away. Second, you might want to leave some paper towels with a weight on top of themdog urine odor area for maximum results.

Sodium bicarbonate - Get a daily regular baking soda and sprinkle over the area where the smell of dog urine comes from. Now you have to use a little 'here. If in doubt, use a little 'more because it is coming anyway, and you do not want to come back and have to do it all again. Wait about 45 minutes and keep the dog away from that area.

Hoover - After 45minutes are up, you should get your Hoover vacuum cleaner and the whole area will have urine and its odor. There may still be a faint smell in the air, but you can open a window and spray the air freshener to get rid of it.

about preparation. cooking and the preparation of cake decorating is a critical part of the overall process. In this article I will share some expert tips for basic cake prepare your cake creation off to a great start! This
simple tips will ensure your cake decorating success.

Preparation of a board of Cake -

Many specially themed cakes are too large to fit on a plate, so a cake board can be used. Cut a piece of stiffboard size. Cover with foil, wrapping paper or heavy coated paper.

I often use colored tissue paper, covered with colored cellophane of the type used to wrap gift baskets. This gives the desired background color, with a surface that is easy to clean. It also makes a great background to enhance the
presentation and photograph the final cake masterpiece.

Preparing Cake Pans -

The use of metal pans with a nonstick coating. Fatand flour pans before adding cake batter. Spread a thin layer of vegetable oil on the bottom and sides of pan. This works better than butter or margarine as the cake from the pan easily free. Sprinkle a little 'flour in a pan tilt, and evenly coat. Eliminate the 'excess.

Test for cooking -

Follow the instructions for baking time and temperature indicated in the recipe. Cakes are done when a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. L 'cake should be pulled out from the sides of pan and top springs back when touched in center.

Removing Cake from Pan -

Let cake cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. Reverse wire cooling rack on top and invert. Shake gently to release the cake from the pan. Place rack in the bottom half of the cake and invert again so cake can cool right side up.

Preparing Cake for Frosting -

Slip each cake layerIn a gallon size freezer bag and store in freezer for 30-45 minutes. An even simpler approach to every layer of its own plate and plastic wrap to cover freezing. I poke a toothpick or two at the top of each layer of the plastic cover to avoid bind to the surface of the cake.

Light frost the cake just right and they can easily brush any debris from the surface before icing.

Best Base glaze recipe -

The plot's thinbase glaze can easily coverage without pulling bits of cake and crumbs away from the cake. This is essential especially if you are white icing on chocolate cake. If the fund is done, frost with desired frosting finish.

3 cups powdered sugar, sifted

1 / 2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 / 4 cup milk

1 / 2 tsp. vanilla

Combine powdered sugar, butter, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Add milk 1 tsp. atime to the desired consistency. Icing should be thin enough. This is a great base frosting. Using as a first coat to seal in crumbs and give a good
smooth surface on the cake.

Cutting and trimming -

You can create many different cake designs by cutting the cake
layers in different forms. Measure and mark the cutting line with a toothpick or wooden skewers or metal. Use a sharp knife and brush cake lightly with a soft pastry brush to remove crumbsbefore icing.

Cut the rounded tops of cake layers on a flat surface shape. Use a long serrated knife to cut a cake cutting movement. You can also cut the edges of the rectangular cake into a more professional look.

Frosting Tools -

Using different sizes of flexible metal spatulas for frosting. Big companies are used to smooth large flat areas, while a narrow spatula tip is ideal to get into small areas.

Toothpicks or wooden skewers or metalbe used to cut the lines on your cake for score.

A pastry bag with various tips you need to pipe on decorations. I have a reusable pastry bag that is easy to rinse. In a pinch, you can also use a plastic sandwich bag with a small hole cut in the corner.

Now that all these important basic
in place, you and your cake prepared and ready for frosting

STOP PRESS! ! !

Althoughmy last column I promised not to talk about chocolate, I can not wait to spend the good news ..... Recent research has shown that chocolate is actually good for us - Hallelujah! I give below an extract from the Daily Mail, 1 June 4 .......

"CHOCOLATE" remains in good heart '
Scientists are chocolate lovers spread yesterday when they discovered that eating the cake may help protect against heart disease. Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, that the variety of dark sweet with a cocoa content of over 70 percent may be beneficial for circulation. Better blood flow is essential to prevent clogged arteries or blockage leading to heart attack or stroke. ".......

I must say that I personally agree with the article or if my heart always feels good when I put in one of my favorite chocolate bar. E 'was only after I broke my heart sinks when the sense of guilt kicks in until after darkchocolate with over 70% cocoa, we must not spoil the fun with a sense of guilt. And, unlike milk chocolate or other comfort foods like chocolate cake, there is the added value that we are probably not too much chocolate to put this' high cocoa content "because it is very difficult to over-indulge in this very rich, dark chocolate.

However, remember that "less is more '! Remember what happened when the medical profession to inform us that" a glass of red wineis good for the heart? In general, people feel the only red wine is good for the heart "and ignored the recommendation of a 'glass'. Unfortunately, just because you consume a bottle of red does not mean that you consume a bottle of health. (Sorry to be a "Puper party" are). Similarly, if you're a chocoholic, try sharing your usual milk, chocolate, cream, chocolate for a small amount of high-quality dark chocolate with over 70% cocoa - enjoy, and,
hopefully, collectawards.

Handmade chocolate truffles recipe

Ingredients:

16 oz dark chocolate

1 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon liqueur (optional) (if used, coffee liqueur is going very well here)

Directions:

Break the chocolate into small pieces.

Heat the cream just until boiling. Looking at all the time because it can overflow the pot boiling cream! Remove from heat immediately when it starts to boil.

Stir chocolate and liqueur and stir until chocolate is meltedcompletely. Allow to cool, then refrigerate.

Check the consistency of the truffle mixture after 5 hours in refrigerator. You should be able to collect balls with a spoon and roll. If it is too soft (impossible to roll into balls), put it back in the fridge and check again after 1 hour.

Line the baking sheet with parchment paper. Once the truffle mixture is the right consistency, with a tablespoon of part of it on your hands, roll balls and putPut the balls on parchment paper.

Note: At this point, you can also roll the truffles in chocolate crumbs (chocolate crumbs do, just a bit jarring 'extra chocolate in a food processor). This step is optional, I only when the presentation is important, because the truffles are more crumbs of chocolate truffles that only professionally done:)

Put the baking dish with truffles in the freezer for at least 1 hour. After you remove them fromfreezer, take the truffles from the parchment paper and arrange on a plate. Store the truffles in the refrigerator.

Have fun!

How to Make Perfect Buttermilk Biscuits

As a small child, I remember sitting at the kitchen table and watching my grandmother make homemade buttermilk biscuits every Sunday morning. I liked being there and listening to her sing, as she lovingly wrapped the dough.

I could not wait until I was old enough to help her and that day finally came when I was about 7 years. Finally, I would cook in action. Over the years I learned to find the perfect buttermilk biscuits for this day, sobrings back memories of my grandmother, now deceased.

Here are some important tips I learned along the road.

Crunchy on the outside and flaky in the center as you roll the dough thin and fold it over once before cutting out. They will also crack when you're ready to butter them. I think she enjoyed with pure butter and margarine is not about them.

To warm biscuits, put them in a wet paper bag, twist it closed and putin an oven at 300 degrees for several minutes or until hot.

When it comes to cooking, when they are fried in a pan with sides and put them close, you get sides shortbread. If they cook on a griddle and space on their side, you get biscuits crus level.

Homemade buttermilk biscuits

2 1 / 2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 / 8 cup granulated sugar
1 / 2 cup solid shortening
1 envelope dryyeast
1 / 4 cup hot water
1 cup buttermilk

In a glass measuring cup, dissolve the yeast in warm water. In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and then cut in shortening. Stir in buttermilk and yeast / water mixture. Refrigerator dough for 10-15 minutes. Roll out the dough on a floured cloth or board and cut with a round cookie cutter. Place the dough on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned on the plans.

Create delicious cookies on a baking sheet

A parchment paper is very useful in a cookie-baking perfect. It is a pan made of metal, which is flat, and cookie batter is applied to the surface before baking. It 'best to use the oven to those who are about two cm shorter and narrower than the bins. Be sure to use a plate aluminum that is polished. No need to grease if it is not mentioned in the cookie recipe. You must also ensure that there is warm when the cookie dough asmust be at or below room temperature. When it's warm, a biscuit dough and continue until the consistency of cookie change.

If you hurry, you can pan in cold water and dry completely before using them. If it is dark in color, attention to tan. Make sure you only see one every time you cook. You also need to rotate them and clean them between the parties. If no such edges, this allows for the cookiescook evenly and quickly.

If the recipe states to grease the pan, be sure to use unsalted butter fat or vegetable fat. A lot of people might think of using vegetable oil, but burns the cookies and difficult to clean. You can also use silicone baking mats or parchment paper. These rugs are very popular with the fans, like cooking are durable, affordable and does not change its shape.

If you bake cookies that are already a certain amount of vegetable shortening or butter in them, it's a good idea to avoid grease or lubricate the plates. If you prepare chocolate chip cookies, make sure that the flower leaves after lubricating. In this way, cookies are not thin or scattered on the leaf, while in the oven. If your skin the flour, the chocolate from the cookie will not burn or stick to the plate during cooking. Just keep in mind these points, while> Biscuits and baked cookies from the oven is sure to be perfect in no time.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Most people really want to recycle, but it is often difficult to find what happens. The first step in planning your recyclables to all the materials you need in one place. Here are some items you should have on hand:

String or twine

Containers, cans

Shopping bags

Cleaning supplies

Paper Shredder

Deodorizer, baking soda

Light blue or bags (if applicable)

garbage bags, boxes of organic matter (if applicable)

Your recyclingshould be in an enclosed space that is easily accessible, but out of sight. Think about where each of these activities is to select a location to store your recyclable that is useful based on where you are coming from recyclable materials (kitchen, office, living room, etc.) and where they go (basement, garage, immediately to the edge the sidewalk).

Select the correct size for each type of recyclable containers and the space they need in boxes, labels so that family members and guests are clear on whereget rid of everything. For those unfamiliar with the city recycling in the system are a list of items that go into each box and make sure that list of things that should not go in (ie fabric used). Leave this in your area for recycling. Try sprinkling baking soda on the bottom of the bins and baskets to keep odors. Sprinkle each time the bag and add hot water when it's time to clean them.

Select a place for bottles to be rinsed before recycling spentand to do so at the end of wash your dishes every day. You can also choose to wash things away. If you do not have a small green bin for your kitchen, ice cream or a container of cat litter are large airtight container to prevent fruit flies and stench. Be sure to empty the regular growth of the fungus to occur.

They have a shelf or a container with a pair of scissors, rope, bags and garbage bags nearby. This makes the recycling process easier. Keep a box of baking soda in the recyclingarea to keep things fresh. Try to break the boxes right away to save space and keep next to your bins. All documents with personal information (credit card offers, bank statements, addresses) should be shredded. Put a blue bag in the box right shredder for easy emptying.

The most important part of maintaining the recyclable organized is to create a routine. Set a time or a day to empty the containers, the collection of cardboard, empty the green bin, and removetheir recyclable larger corporate site. Be sure to keep track of when the next day and alternate pickup pick-up date for the holidays.

Recycling can be simplified when the whole family and everyone involved knows the system and attaches to the routine. Encourage children to work and learn routine recycling. You're never too young or too old to learn to practice good waste recycling and reduction.
